Can American citizens have the majority ownership after company registration in Thailand?

One of the most important factors that you need to take into consideration when it comes to company registration in Thailand is the ownership. As you know you need to have a majority of Thai ownership if you want to create a company here. The thing to keep in mind is that just about every country will have to deal with this issue. Which means that if you are outside of the country, you do have to encounter quite a lot of challenges, and that can be a bit tricky to deal with if you think about it.

With that in mind, you have to realize that the US citizens don’t have to deal with such a problem. The reason why that happens is because there’s an old treaty that was negotiated during the colonial times. In that situation it was specified that company registration in Thailand is ok because Thailand is the only non colony in the region and US is an ally.

This was valid for decades and it continues to be valid as well. Which is why you really have to figure out the right system and approach when it comes to solving such a problem and adapting everything to suit your needs.

But that doesn’t mean things are super easy. If you are an American treaty company, things will still be a bit more complicated than usual, which is obviously not what you want to hear. But it’s still the type of thing that can do wonders if you tackle it correctly and without any kind of problems to begin with.

Despite the complication, US citizens still choose this because it’s super convenient and it does bring in front some rewarding benefits that you do not want to miss at all. The plan is to eliminate the American treaty option in the long run, but this is still used quite a lot.

The slow burn related this is obviously what made people focus on it so much to begin with. It’s always a good idea to push the boundaries and deliver great results no matter what happens. But for the most part the company registration in Thailand will go due to the current laws, even if they are subject to change at some point. That doesn’t mean it’s something bad. There’s always need for some adjustment, and obviously that will happen sooner rather than later, you can rest assured of it.

Overall, the US citizens do have a little bit of leeway when it comes to company registration in Thailand. That doesn’t mean the situation is perfect. They still encounter some problems here and there, and that can be quite the challenge for them. But in the end that’s the thing to consider and, you might as well opt for the best option that you can here. Which is not exactly a bad thing if you think about it. So if you are an US citizen, you definitely want to focus on this option!
